The Mind Strength Movement

You Lost a Position Battle. Now What?

Aug 25, 2025

Take Ownership.

1. Find the Learning
Ask yourself: What can I learn here? Where can I improve? What can I do better? What am I already doing well that I should keep building on? Evaluate yourself with honesty, not excuses. Growth comes from seeing the gaps and taking action.

2. Find Solutions
Maybe your reps in practice are cut, or you’re not getting opportunities anymore. Avoid waiting—create your own. Take the script after practice and walk through your job, role, and assignment. Make the throws. Run the routes. Visualize the reps. Keep sharpening your craft so you’re always ready.

3. Clear Your Resentment
As Wayne Dyer said: “It’s not the snake bite that kills you, it’s the venom left behind.” Too often, athletes let the hurt of losing a spot turn into resentment. That resentment clogs you up mentally and emotionally. It’s like stuffing golf balls in a hose—when it’s time to flow, nothing comes out.

The brain doesn’t have a delete button, but it does need tools to process setbacks. Use Clearing. Forgive the external events. Forgive yourself for how you’ve responded. Release the venom so you can get back to full flow.

*Remember—you are always one play away. That next rep, that next chance, that next opportunity could change everything. Avoid a victim mindset—complaining, blaming, worrying about how you look, moping, or believing one decision defines you. None of that moves you forward. Progress. Grow. Learn. Keep a growth mindset and be ready when your moment comes.*
