The Most Powerful Word In Your Life
Mar 02, 2026
“The difference between successful people and really successful people is that really successful people say no to almost everything.”
- Warren Buffett
“No.”
If you learn how to use the shortest sentence in the English language effectively, you will elevate your life.
“No” to yourself when you want the extra bite.
“No” to the sweets.
“No” to the self-negotiation when you’re about to break your word.
“No” to the event you don’t need to attend.
“No” to the task that doesn’t move you forward.
“No” to the person who bulldozes their way into your life.
“No” to the thing that isn’t within your budget.
“No” to the opportunity that isn’t aligned with your values.
“No” to the things draining your time and energy —
the endless scrolling, the noise, the distractions.
“No” to your kids when discipline is needed.
Most people never learn this skill. (Yours truly included — especially with other people.)
We feel like we owe an explanation for every “no.”
We don’t.
You don’t need permission to protect your time.
You don’t need approval to honor your values.
As Dan Sullivan says,
“Want what you want.”
Make decisions based on your standards.
Based on your budget.
Based on your values.
Based on where you’re going — and who you’re becoming.
Every time you say “no” to what pulls you off path,
you say “yes” to the person you’re meant to be.
“When you say ‘no,’ your ‘yes’ means more.”
Easy Easy,
